Ivon Hitchens was an English painter. He mostly painted landscape paintings. Expressive brush strokes are an important part in Hitchens paintings and are very visible on the canvas. They are very expressive and make the paint flow around the painting, drawing the viewers eye around the whole of the canvas. The colours used sometimes layer over each other, not blending, just creating different tones in the painting. The paintings are on the line of abstract and figurative, as they suggest a landscape but do not fully represent one. He was mostly inspired by the English countryside, this is shown in his works by the colours he has chosen to use. The colours in his paintings are quite vibrant as well as darker and paler tones to create different moods.
