Helen Marten creates installations using screen printing, sculpture and her own written work. She was the Turner Prize winner in 2016. Her artwork included found objects and also objects she made herself. The point of her installations were to feel like you were seeing the objects for the first time, and maybe seeing them as more of abstract objects, rather than everyday ones. She uses a variety of materials in her work most of which are from everyday life, for example coins and shoe soles. Her work has an industrial feel due to the materials such as aluminium and other metals. The sculpture can be seen hanging from the ceiling which transforms these strong, sturdy items into a new, delicate object of its own. This piece reflects my own ideas for my project, looking at everyday things in a new and abstract way.
