Cornelia Baltes is a German artist. She creates paintings, sculptures and installations. Her work includes abstraction but is also figurative. Her work is about her observation on everyday life. Everyday imagery is the main theme throughout her work. Her paintings are very bold and bright with simple patterns and shapes. This gives her art a very playful feel to it. Her work feels very free because of the expressive marks and curved shapes. It is very inventive and humorous. Her work has elements of illustration, each different piece of her works interact with each other in some way which also encourages interaction with the audience. Her work is large and the images created in her pieces are sometimes seen as quite simple, but very confidently produced. The block colours in her paintings make them quite flat, however this contrasts well with her sculptures which are 3D objects but include the same colours.
