•In my crit I presented a projection of the digital paintings that I have been working on for my methodology, shapes project, while also including some pieces that link to my fine art in society module. There was a range of different paintings I had created, which we then focused on three specific paintings and talked about them. ‘The mountains,’ ‘The shark teeth’ were some of the names people suggested my pink and blue painting looked like. We talked about how the audience look at an abstract painting, and associate it with something else. Does it ruin the appreciation of the abstract for what it is? We talked about abstraction, minimalism and questioning what they are and how to differentiate between them. When is something minimalistic? Another abstract painting I produced, gave people different ideas of what it was. Some seeing a landscape motorway. The shapes were layered over one another and the colours chosen were opposites and colours mixed together. We looked at my digital painting that was linked more to my fine art in society module, based on a building. The discussions surrounding this were the composition, the placement of shapes, the colours and how it had elements linking to interior and illustration. I projected my digital paintings to provide another way of viewing my artwork and seeing how they would look on a large scale. We then talked about moving forward in the project, taking the digital paintings and creating them with paint. Also using other materials, like felt to collage the square pieces because of their colours. Larger wall collaging was also a suggestion.
