•Josef Albers was an artist who practiced with Modern art and Geometric abstraction. I was able to see Albers' ‘Homage to the square: two whites between two yellows 1958’ painting at the MOMA Gallery in New York. The painting is oil on board. The continuous square shapes change in size and colour. This plays with space and the geometric squares are intricate yet simple. The colours include yellow and white tones. The white colours separating the yellows against the layering of the squares is interesting to look at and gives a sense of depth. His paintings show experimentation with placement of shapes and thinking about individual colours is important in his work.
