Digital Paintings

Writer: Loren CarrLoren Carr

•I have created digital paintings on Photoshop. Having never used Photoshop before, this was an experiment, with no knowledge of what the end result would be. Digitally creating was a quick way of experimenting with compositions and placement, creating different shapes and being able to layer them and distort them. Creating unfinished and final compositions without having to physically change them each time. The colours I chose in many were very vibrant on screen. However I created a number of muted and pale colour pieces too. The digital paintings are abstractions of shapes. Geometric and softer shapes, continuous shapes, taking an original shape and distorting it and creating compositions. Using colours that were opposite, and colours that were similar but in different tones. An artist that I think has had a similar process to me is Tomma Abts as I think she paints her paintings by finding the paintings composition through making it.
