Focusing on one or two elements in a painting, making it minimalist, was helpful. To be able to just focus on the materiality of paint was important in the process and outcome of my paintings. The truthful quality of minimalism is important in my work. The focus of my paintings is to appreciate them for what they are literally and not a representational piece of art. The materials, paint and process are most important and minimalism has helped and allowed that to take place.
